In need of practise

I need to draw faces/heads for my taxonomy project so i thought i'd take the time to practise drawing them :/

If blogger wasn't absoloutely retarded and I could put these in order I would. Skulls, muscle, side view.

Can people do my questionnaire?

To be honest, i'm not entirely positive that i've worded things correctly, or made it as simple as i could have, but i've tried! I may have to redo it if people just look at it and think 'oh f*!? that', but to be honest, it's not a questionnaire i COULD have done multiple choice, i need in depth answers... SORRY! If you do it, i'll be very grateful! Thanks guys!

3D Motion Mixing

There was a problem with the last second of rendering so it cut off where he comes up from his bow - I'll try rectify the problem this week and uplaod again but here it my final attempt before presenting on Thursday. My model, my mapping, moving! I attempted my own brick texture for the wall but it didn't work out, they were too big so i'll have to try again this week. My cameras and light worked though I think!

Graffiti Taxonomy

Whilst researching into my my new Studio project "Taxonomy or Folksonomy", I came across this

I think it's a really simple but effective approach to Taxonomy, interesting to look at and an interesting concept! Now, If only Huddersfield was as creative as New York.. The only graffiti I've seen around these parts involve obscene words and phallus like shapes.. Hmm..

I'm taking a more complex approach to this Taxonomy project I think, my idea is only in very early development stages but I think It could turn into a really nice project! Watch this space

Oh, and my business cards came this week, I should emphasise there not what I'd ideally like them to look like, however I wanted something to take to New York, just to generally litter around the place so I can say I did, and I wanted them to match my blog at the moment - so they do there job, for now..

After recently being emailed a brief from University regarding placement opportunity at Disney Interactive Studios, I looked into Alice in Wonderland a lot, I even started the read the original 'Through the looking Glass' book for the first time, I bled the library dry of all related books and had what I think were really good ideas and inspiration from these. The reality of the situation is my marked work at University comes first, before everything, at the moment and I needed to prioritize, so I won't be attempting to apply/work on this brief, especially with a class trip to New York around the same date as the submission of this and many University briefs. However, I think the brief set by Disney was really interesting in it self as a brief and a good insight to the type of work a company might set. In my spare time, whenever I might get that, I fully intend to work on that brief for my own personal growth and experience.

So we've learnt how to make a model, add the bones, map it and use motion mixers, then thrown in some lighting and things learnt last year. Soon a video which actually shows off all these in one - but for now - here's what we've got!

Attempted some more UVW Unwrap/Mapping things. This one went ALOT better. Second time round I knew what i was doing more and there are actually no mistakes with the mapping, I could just do a better paint job, but this was only a quickie test, as it 6.57, i'm still in uni, and i need a wee..

Oh by the way the model and original drawing was supplied by tutor Jay, but next time i'm going to map my own model of Wayne

Another day another dollar! Anyway tried to get on new competition brief. It's coming along, but I'd like to get some feedback from my tutors, when they have time for it, maybe in another few weeks, maybe i'd get more help if i payed £3000 for them to tea...oh wait. Never mind :D I'm waiting on finding out some Erasmus information, but again thats taking time, I might go speak to student services and get hold of the right people directly. Not only is there the uncertainty of not knowing what i'm doing after this year but I've got a student loan form staring at me waiting to be filled out correctly (For whatever I end up doing next year..) And we all know what happens when you don't get these forms off in time. Also my flatmates are now looking for accommodation which I obviously can't do yet.. This whole year feels like limbo!

Anyway I also want to edit my little banner at the top of the page. I want it similar to this, but better, so I can use it on business cards and maybe animate it for the end of my videos? I dunno, any advice?

What else, hmm. Oh, I got out Lewis Carolls original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass from the library yesterday and read the first 2 chapters last night. It confirmed what I already knew - I'm not much of a reader! But it's already helped with ideas, ever so slightly. I need to edit the eyes on my previous alice drawing as directed by my tutor.

Anyway I thought i'd update in a textual way. For now, bed!

3D Studio Max - UVW Mapping and Unwrapping

What I've been doing lately..

After much thought I scrapped the brief i was working on for FOLD. Sometimes you have a creative block and just have to start a fresh, which is what I've done. I gave up on the pervious Body Shop brief I was working on and am already well under way with this new Cartoon Network one. I just put this together to show my blog my progress so far. Considering I only found this brief 6 days ago, I've got a pretty good flow going on with it - success!

UPDATE:

The colours were too orange, which is too nickelodeon for a cartoon network brief, so changed the colour scheme of the room, and have worked on the next scene of the animation where the kid, who for now is called carlton, draws in his own world, here's how it looks so far, only a few second of animation but i'm happy with how i've put an idea into practise with this

I got quite excited when I received this brief but realistically I'd never have the time to do a good job at it by the deadline, however i'm still going to work on it in my spare time because I find it fun and interesting, and I might produce some cool portfolio work, If i enjoy it enough, I might make it good enough!
